Created in l873, Budapest is undoubtedly the brightest jewel on the Danube. The Castle District is an absolute must see and can easily be accessed by a lovely funicular cable car that offers great views on the way up to the castles. More baroque splendor extends along the Danube River with the Parliament Building a must see. One thousand year old cathedrals and wineries, outdoor cafes, pastries, a wonderful culture where most people speak English. Five star reviews by previous travelers have been given to the museums, art galleries, concert venues and restaurants. Especially recommended is a boat trip at night to see the lighted buildings.
Our hotel, the Mercure Budapest Duna, is located in the centre of Budapest, on the bank of the Danube, with a picturesque view of the river. The nearby Palace of Art and National Theatre, shopping district and major sights of Budapest make the hotel an ideal choice.
The Euro is the currency in Austria, and the Florint is the currency in Hungary. Presently the exchange rate is favorable at $1.60 Florint to $1.00 American. The exchange rate with the Euro fluctuates and is beginning to look better.
As in the past, I strongly recommend AIG Travel Guard Insurance. Brochures outlining coverage will be gladly given to anyone considering insurance of my trip or any other trip. Maximum insurance coverage can be provided if trip participant applies for policy within seven days of trip registration. I now have the ability to issue travel guard policies from my office.
