Big Sky Montana
Our Delta flight arrives in Bozeman, Montana at 1:15 pm. We pick up our baggage and board our private bus for the 45 minute ride to Big Sky. We will make a stop along the way to pick up food and refreshments for our exciting stay. Our ride will take us down the Gallatin Highway with breathtaking views of the canyons, river and mountain peaks.
At 11,166', it's easy to see Lone Peak's appeal to every age and level of skier/boarder. Trails run up to six miles long with glades and bowls covered in 400 plus inches of annual snowfall. All this snow makes a day on the slopes something special for everyone. With 3,812 acres spanning three mountains, the Big Sky-Moonlight Basin interconnection gives you access to 21 lifts, 5,512 skiable acres and 4,350' of vertical drop. The sheer magnitude of the area coupled with an extensive lift system make lift lines virtually non-existent. Attention New England Season Pass holders: complimentary/discounted tickets are available at Big Sky. Check newenglandpass.com for details.
Ski enthusiasts can compare Lone Peak's vertical drop of 4,350' to Vail 3,250', Telluride 3,522', Steamboat 3,600', Jackson Hole 4,139', and Whistler 5,278'. In addition, Big Sky boasts Montana's largest half-pipe and terrain park at 1,300 vertical feet.
The Huntley Lodge, Big Sky's original hotel in the mountain village, was built by founder Chet Huntley. The Huntley is considered the village's central meeting location with comfortable lobbies, two large outdoor jacuzzi's, saunas, two pools, après ski activities and Chet's Bar/Grill to provide nightly entertainment. The Huntley lodge is a great place to meet after skiing/boarding. Big Sky offers cross-country skiing, horseback riding, dog sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and a new zip-line. In addition to 10,000' of slopeside retail shops and restaurants in the pedestrian plaza. You could also treat yourself to a side trip to Yellowstone Park, just 18 miles away. I strongly recommend AIG Travel Guard Insurance. Brochures outlining coverage will be gladly given to anyone considering insurance on my trip or any other trip. Maximum insurance coverage can be provided if trip participant applies for policy within seven days of completed trip registration. I now have the ability to issue travel guard policies.
