Big Sky, Montana
Perpetual blue skies. Millions of snowflakes fluttering to the beat of your heart. It's the details that move the mind and stir the soul. Details like 400 inches of annual snow fall or 3 mountains with lots of elbow room. Lift lines are basically non-existent here. The skiing and riding is the ultimate experience.

Explore the backcountry on snowshoes or take a relaxing sleight ride. The choice , like Big Sky itself, is all yours.

big skyWe will fly to Bozeman, Montana and drive 45 minutes through beautiful Gallatin Canyon to Big Sky. At 11,166 feet, it’s easy to see Lone Peak’s appeal to every age and level of skier and boarder. Runs up to six miles long and glades and bowls covered in 400 plus inches of annual snowfall make a day on the slopes something different for everyone. With 3,812 acres spanning three mountains, the Big-Sky-Moonlight Basin interconnect gives you access to 27 lifts, 5,512 ski able acres and 4,350 feet of vertical drop. The sheer magnitude of the area coupled with an extensive lift system make lift lines virtually non-existent. Attention, Sunday River and Sugarloaf Season Ticket Holders...your season passes can be used at Big Sky! Please review the requirements under Terms and Conditions.

Ski enthusiasts can compare Lone Peak’s vertical drop of 4,350’ to Vail at 5,278’, Telluride at 3,200‘, Steamboat at 3,600’, Jackson Hole at 4,139’, and Whistler at 3,516’. In addition Big Sky boasts Montana’s largest half-pipe,terrain park at 1,300 vertical feet. Using their Swiss-made Zaugg Monster Pipe Cutter, the park crew fashions the only super-pipe in the area, right off the Ramcharger high-speed chairlift.

The Huntley Lodge, Big Sky's original hotel in the Moutain Village, was built by founder Chet Huntley. The Huntley is considered the Village's central meeting location with comfortable lobbies, hot tubs and saunas, après ski activities and Chet's Bar and Grill, providing nightly entertainment.

In addition to 10,000 square feet of slope side retail and restaurants in the pedestrian plaza, the mountain offers cross-country skiing, horseback riding, dog sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling. Or treat yourself to a side trip to Yellowstone Park, just 18 miles away. To view the mountain via their live web cam visit www.bigskyresort.com/ontheslopes
